Substance abuse is a pattern using behavior-altering substances in ways that result in adverse personal, social and legal consequences. Abused substances include alcohol, amphetamines, cocaine, hallucinogens, opiates, PCP, sedatives and prescription drugs. Psychologists believe that sexual addiction is about the least understood and talked about of all addictions. Sexual addiction has similarities with alcohol and drug addiction or compulsive gambling. Even people who admit to having other bad habits shy away from admitting to sexual addiction. An eating disorder is an unhealthy obsession with food that is harmful or life-threatening. Eating disorders affect as many as 10 million females and 1 million males in the U.S. Millions more are struggling with bouts of binge eating. According to recent research, depressive disorders will affect almost 19 million American adults this year. That’s almost 10% of the U.S. population. This includes major depressive disorder, dysthymic disorder, and bipolar disorder. His Mansion has always had an interest in giving back to local churches as they have given to us. In the early ‘90s we developed a transferable addiction recovery program that can be initiated even by churches that have limited finances and personnel. We call it Pressing Onward. |
