Addiction Recovery Support Groups

His Mansion has been at the forefront of the Recovery movement for over thirty-five years. Over that period we’ve always had an interest in giving back to the local church as they have given to us.

In the early ‘90s we developed a concept for creating a transferable program that could be initiated by the local church that has limited finances and personnel. We call it Pressing Onward.

The two major snares in establishing effective recovery support groups are insufficient training and lack of hands-on experience. As a result most attempts to establish church-based support groups for emotionally and chemically entrapped people, fizzle out in six months. Our veterans in recovery ministry have gleaned data from both successes and failures, embarking upon an exciting, but realistic, approach to equipping men and women. Our experience-based approach greatly increases the probability of establishing successful support groups in your church.

A carefully developed curriculum, based upon sound Biblical principles and tested practices, is taught by veteran recovery and support group trainer, Lew Gervais.

Mr. Gervais has been on our staff, in a full-time or adjunct consultant capacity since 1983. He is a veteran missionary to The Bahamas where he established a residential treatment program and set up several church-based recovery support groups. Mr. Gervais, has for many years, served as a staff member of Hope Recovery Ministries and as was the Recovery Pastor at Zion Community Church for 10 years, in Palm Bay, Florida.

Mr. Gervais is available, in his adjunct relationship, to come to your church and conduct training seminars that are designed to inspire and equip a team in your church to establish and maintain an ongoing church-supported Recovery Ministry.

Mr. Gervais has established, and continues to oversee, a 150 plus people support ministry covering the entire spectrum of addictive behaviors, in his home church.

The thirty-five-year plus, experience of His Mansion’s programs serve as the foundation and center for resources for the continuing support groups that desire ongoing relationship with us. His Mansion provides a minimum of three annual refresher and networking opportunities through our Healing in the Context of community (HCC) courses.

Specially tailored training opportunities for church teams who are able to get away are conducted at Mr. Gervais' Hope Recovery Ministry in Palm Bay Florida. In these three to five day workshops you’ll be able observe a successful church-based support group in action and be privileged to dialogue with recovery group leader veterans.

You may wish to parlay your Florida training experience into a mini-vacation, in which case Mr. Gervais will be happy to help with those arrangements.

His Mansion’s Pressing Onward support groups enjoy a continuing affiliation and support that a veteran Third World Mission organization can provide.
